As I write you this letter it’s the 14th February 2017 – Valentine’s day. This time last year I had been in labour for just over 12 hours. We didn’t know at the time but it would take nearly another 24 hours before Mommy and Daddy finally got to meet you. You took your time but you were worth the wait!
Now here we are, a year later and I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone. It’s strange. It only feels like yesterday that I held you close and kissed your tiny lips but at the same time it feels like you’ve been part of our lives forever. It’s hard to imagine what life was like before you arrived. Mommy still doesn’t know what she did with all her free time!
There’s been a lot of change in the past twelve months. You’ve grown so much. You no long sleep like a little fork or tuck your legs up like your still in Mommy’s tummy. Now you’re a big boy and you love to explore. You love to climb and Mommy has been teaching you how to balance.
Some days have been difficult. You don’t really like Mommy’s cooking and your favourite game is throwing food on the floor. Mommy worries that you don’t eat enough but I’m sure you’ll get there eventually.
Soon Mommy will go back to work and you’ll start nursery. I’m sad that our special time together is coming to an end. It’s been the most wonderful year of my life. We’ve made some fantastic memories, memories which Mommy will remember forever and ever. I hope you understand why Mommy needs to go back to work and know that I’ll miss you every second were not together.
This next year you will start to walk and start to talk. We’ll take you on your first family holiday and you’ll get to ride in an airplane.
Mommy and Daddy can’t wait to watch you grow. We love you so much and every day you make us so happy. You’re the best thing in the world!
Happy Birthday – for tomorrow – my beautiful, gorgeous boy!
Love Mommy xx
