You can settle down, forget the world for an evening, and focus on the wonderful world of family movies. The ideas below should help to ensure the evening is every bit as special as you want it to be.

Make something to eat

Popcorn is the obvious choice with movies, though anything sweet, from brownies to smores can also make the perfect accompaniment.

Grab a drink

Hot chocolate is a great choice if it’s a winter evening and you want to lock the cold out. It’s delicious, creates a sense of cosiness, and just seems more indulgent. If the climate is a little more temperate, then a pitcher of family-friendly punch with chunks of fruit is a good — and healthy — way to go.

Close the curtains or blinds

This helps you to cocoon yourself in your own world; it’s just you, your family, and the screen in front of you. A darkened room, with the lights dimmed or turned off, also feels more cinematic, which helps to enhance the viewing experience.

When you have completed all of the above, you can settle down and indulge in the movie of your choice; something like the fantasy movie concept below would be a great selection!
