The September Bucket List: Autumnal Adventures

autumn bucket list mother and son enjoying family time While it seems everyone else is preparing to settle back into the school routine, we’re gearing up for a super busy month. As we edge closer to the season of crunchy leaves and pumpkin picking, my Autumn bucket list keeps getting longer and longer. We already have lots planned for September but I’m hoping to squeeze in a few seasonal specials!

To the Zoo!

With over a week of annual leave scheduled, September feels like the perfect time to do all those things we’ve been saying we’re going to do for months. As an official holiday is off the cards, this year we’re planning to spend our time away from the office embracing that traditional British pastime, day tripping!

One place I’m especially excited to visit is Chester Zoo. We’ve had plans to go for the best part of a year but they’ve never come into fruition. Although it’s not the closest zoo to us, it’s without a doubt my favourite. Lets just hope the child enjoys it as much as me!

Let’s get Cooking

Cooking has always been something which I enjoy but since becoming a parent I seem to do it less and less.  A combination of being a busy mum and working full time means more often than not I rely on convenience food. Having some time away from our usual routine feels like a great opportunity to get back into the kitchen and cook something completely new.

Beach Days

One of the downsides of living in Sheffield is that we’re nowhere near the beach. While the rolling countryside is a close second nothing compares to a day on the sand. We’ve only managed to make the trip once this year so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is kind to us. It might be something you’d expect to find on an August bucket list but spending one last warm day at the beach would be the perfect end to a glorious summer!

*Plus I’ve spotted some incredibly cute beach huts on Instagram that are literally calling my name.

Conkers, I’m Collecting Conkers…

Autumn has to be my favourite season and nothing spells autumn like collecting conkers! Rory is all about hunting for treasures at the moment so I know this will be the perfect activity for us all to enjoy. And as if that wasn’t good enough, it’s completely free! #winning

Time for Me

September is definitely the month for family adventure but I’m also diarising a little me time. When life gets busy I’m often the one who sacrifices my time which means by the end of the month I’m exhausted. This month I’m going to make myself a priority and do something which I never do….read a book from cover to cover!!

I’m so out of touch with reading that I have no idea what’s actually hot right now. I’ll be asking (begging) for recommendations on Instagram shortly, so shout out if you’ve read something which you know I’ll love!

What’s on your bucket list this month?
