It’s that time of year again when Britain gets the baking bug! It’s also the time of year when I try my best to recreate a show stopper, using my very limited and somewhat disappointing baking knowledge…
Wanting to not break tradition I was quick to dust off my baking box, and in true homage to Mary Berry herself, whip up my first ever lemon drizzle cake. I did have to substitute a lemon for a lime though (so technically I made a lemon and lime drizzle) as I only had one lemon in the house!
Although I’m not a regular baker of cakes, I am a very frequent eater. Back when I shared a house with my friend Claire, her sister used to make us the best lemon drizzle I have ever tasted! Now my attempt isn’t a patch on hers, but to say I’m pretty rubbish at baking anything more complex than a cornflake bun, I’d say it turned out pretty well!
Well enough that I managed to eat three slices with a cup of tea this afternoon anyway!
With love xx
