Why is it that the closer you get to your holiday the longer the weeks get? We’re going away in September and this month just seems to be dragging. Speaking of holidays, if you follow my page on Instagram you may have seen my weekend holiday purchase. Yes that’s right, I’m going to be one of those dickheads at the beach with a giant inflatable unicorn! if it makes you feel any better I’m also the proud owner of a flamingo rubber ring.
Anyway less about me, it’s time for the next instalment of the New Blogger on the Block.
This series is all about showcasing the fantastic new talent on offer in the blogosphere. Each week I’ll be handing over the floor to my guest blogger as we get to know them a little better. This week it’s all about Jade from Jade’s Creative Ramblings.
Please take a minute to introduce yourself and your blog.
Hey, I’m Jade from Jade’s Creative Ramblings. I’m a 20 year old fashion student, based in Southampton. My blog looks at, or will eventually looks at, a range of different things including fashion, beauty, travel and lifestyle. I just want to be able to write about anything that inspires me without worrying about my blog not fitting under a certain genre or label.
What made you decide to start blogging?
I have always enjoyed writing and I started my first blog 6 years, but as a 14 year old I didn’t know how to promote it or get my posts seen by anyone, so I quickly gave up. However, I’ve never stopped reading blogs & finally learnt how to create a blog and promote it; it’s much harder than I thought it would be but just as fun. I’ve also started thinking about looking at a career in Fashion Journalism, so I thought a blog would be a good way for me to practise my writing and find out if people enjoy it.
What’s your biggest blogging achievement so far?
Honestly, I was amazed when 10 people read my blog posts! Now I’m proud to say that over 150 people have read every blog post that I’ve published so far. I must be doing something right and it is so encouraging knowing people actually read the work you’ve put out there and want to hear what you have to say.
Is there a particular blogger who you look up to?
Victoria from InTheFrow. I have been reading her blog posts forever and I am in awe of the hard work and dedication she has shown in her blog and everything she does – including her YouTube channel and her newsletter, which she just recently started. Her ability to write engaging content always inspires me.
Which one of your posts are you most proud of?
At the minute, I only have four blog posts! However, the one I am most proud of is the one focusing on the Fashion Scene in New York. I think this is because it is something I genuinely have a big interest in and I wanted to share it with other people. I also haven’t seen many other blog posts showcasing the inside of Retail head offices in New York, so I’m proud that I was able to create an original post. Admittedly, the photos probably aren’t as good as they could have been, but I didn’t have my blog when I visited so I never thought anyone else would see the photos! Despite this, I do still love how the post turned out and since it was my first ever blog post, I think I’ll always be proud of it.
Where do you see your blog in 5 years?
This is a tricky question. Honestly, I’m not sure. I’d like to think I was still creating content for my blog, but as I previously said I am looking into fashion journalism as a career, so maybe I’ll still be creating content that I share on my blog, but not created specifically for my blog. Although, saying that, I think that no matter what job I got, I will still be blogging in 5 years time, no matter the size of my audience, because I am enjoying it so much.
Random Question – What came first, chicken or the egg?
The chicken! No one else can produce a chicken’s egg, except a chicken, so it had to come first.
I love Jade’s way of thinking. As a blogger I often find myself wondering if my ideas fit in with my blogs theme. How lovely would be to just write? Jades blog may be new but I love her energy. It’s very clear that she enjoys writing and is very talented. Jade’s Creative Ramblings beautifully represents Jade’s flare for fashion, honest reviews and dedication to her studies.
Fancy appearing in the next instalment? I’d love to hear from you!
