In January I read…Billy & Me By Giovanna Fletcher

Last year I was only successful in reading one book from cover to cover. I’ve always found reading an enjoyable but lately I struggle to find the time. It just isn’t a top priority. Soaps or my blog usually reign supreme although this year I’m making a change! I’ve set myself a challenge to read at least one book a month. To motivate myself I’ll be sharing with you my book of the month and giving it a thumbs up or thumbs down. So what have I been reading this month? In January I read…Billy & Me By Giovanna Fletcher.

For me January is all about easy reading. With tight waistbands and even tighter purse strings, I want something I can snuggle down with on those cold winter afternoons but that doesn’t demand too much of my attention. With a demanding baby toddler ( 😥  😥  😥 ) to manage I need a book which I can fit in at nap time but is captivating enough to keep me coming back for more. Billy & Me was the perfect read!

So what’s it all about? Sophie is a quiet girl; she lives in a small village in Kent and works at the local Tea room. There isn’t much excitement in her life but that’s just how she likes it. When Sophie meets Billy – a gorgeous film star – she falls head over heels. It doesn’t take long for the showbiz world to catch up with them. Before Sophie realises what’s happening she in the midst of A-list drama. Will their romance prevail or will she just be another notch on Billy’s bedpost?

January I read

Why this book? This is the first time I have read anything written by the Giovanna Fletcher. You may know her as the wife of Tom Fletcher (Tom from McFly). Although she is also an author, actress, blogger, vlogger and presenter. I follow her across social media and have done for quite some time. I’ll be hones;, I’ve got a bit of a ‘mom crush’! She seems like the most genuine, down to earth person. She’s a real mom who loves her family and works hard. I love tuning into her live feeds on Facebook and following her updates on Instagram. But it was watching her pregnancy development video’s on YouTube that sealed the deal for me. If you haven’t seen them before take a look at them below. There the cutest things you’ll watch today, I PROMISE!

What’s my verdict? As I’m such a big stalker follower, when I spotted one of her books during a recent trip to WHSmith, I couldn’t resist buying it. I’m usually a fan of crime novels so this book is a million miles away from my normal read. Given my recent lack of reading I thought it would be nice to branch out and try something a little different. This book certainly didn’t disappoint! It’s the perfect romantic story, with a dash of suspense. Light-hearted and funny yet enchanting and sad. If you’re looking for a delightful read to get lost in this winter be sure to give Billy & Me a try.

  • Make sure to check out the Q&A’s with Giovanna at the back of the book. It gives you an insight into the author’s thoughts which I really love. I also think it gives the book that added personal touch.

Oh I have so much admiration for the Fletchers – honest and hardworking people – and yes just make the cutest videos – still love that wedding speech Tom sung – oh my word!! I wouldn’t normally read this kind of book but based on your review I think it would make for a great curled up on the sofa and cup of coffee kind of afternoon! #DreamTeam

I love the Fletchers too. Buzz isn’t that much older than my son so it’s nice to see how he’s getting on! I haven’t read Billy and Me, but I did read her “Dream A Little Dream” which was a lovely book. I think I need to add Billy and Me to the ever expanding list of things I need to read!! #twinklytuesday

Oh I remember seeing both of the “Bump To…” videos – they are so gorgeous aren’t they? I only ever read one book a year at the moment as the rest of my time is now either tot or blog orientated, so I can absolutely appreciate your resolution to fit in some more reading time. I always manage to sneak one in when we go on holiday though and this sounds right up my street. I like something to escape into with a nice cup of tea and a comfy cushion or 6. Thanks for sharing with #DreamTeam x

I’m a HUGE Fletcher fan. I met Tom in December at a book signing. I’ve loved him for years so it really was a dream come true. I love Gi too. She’s so inspirational. I love how despite their fame and money they are still so down to earth and normal and family means everything to them. I’ve read all of Gi’s books and have Happy Mum Happy Baby – the signed edition, on pre order! You should check out her others. There just as good. ?? #twinklytuesday

Oh I used to be such an avid reader too, pre baby. Now, post baby, at the 18 month stage I have just picked up my first book and started reading again. Isn’t it great to snuggle on the sofa with a good book. Thank you for linking to#ablogginggoodtime
