Guest Post – The Pregnancy Diaries #week17

Week 17. Baby is an orange

Well we’ve gone from being totally unprepared and over cautious, to having the cot at home and pram on the way! (Not to our house obviously, don’t want any bad luck!)

A ‘quick look’ in Mothercare and what felt like about 4 hours later and we had the pram we wanted from the beginning, in chilli red…and a gorgeous oak and white pepper cot bed.

I cannot wait to get everything else now but we need to try so hard to wait as we want to concentrate on Thomas at least until after Christmas, as he will have to share our attention a lot afterwards. Plus we have the nursery to decorate now Thomas old bedroom is empty

We have also had the pleasure of using Becky’s Doppler machine this week which has been amazing. Just being able to chill out after a long day and listen to the tiny rapid heartbeat is so relaxing. It is brilliant for Thomas and Paul as well as they get to be involved too. We would all seem a bit mad if anyone saw us but we all sit and talk to the baby and it’s like we’re already a little family.

It’s a bit weird but being able to hear it whenever we want makes us feel closer to it as well.

The only problem is the sheer panic that comes before I locate the little bugger! It’s probably playing hide and seek between all of the fat…and then thinking I’ve found it but it turns out to be my own heartbeat!

I’m sure I’ll get better with practice!

I am feeling the baby move a lot now as well which must annoy Paul because he can’t yet. I can also now distinguish the baby moving and trapped wind! I am doing well πŸ™‚

Managed to find a coat finally as well. Gave up on the idea of finding a non-maternity coat and making it work, and begrudgingly went to look at a cheaper coat but designed for the bump. Tried one on in new look and it honestly looked like I was wearing a tent. I looked 8 months pregnant in it already with its shape it was so unflattering. As a last ditch attempt I looked in H&M. There it was, a normal looking coat but in the mama range. Perfect. Love it. Problem is it’s been bloody boiling since I bought it so no chance to wear it yet!

Pretty uneventful week really, but Autumn is definitely here and I love to be out in it. Sat watching my boys play football on Sunday I realised that I can’t actually see the tops of my legs anymore…bump is most certainly on it’s way πŸ™‚

The pram looks great and red is such a nice gender neutral colour, my son’s pram is also red. I really wanted doppler machine when I was pregnant but everyone thought I was being over the top, I will put it on my wish list for my next pregnancy.
congratulations on your pregnancy, you are almost half way #coolmumclub
