I like to think I’m pretty good at buying gifts. Although when it comes to my mum I always find her much more difficult to buy for. It’s not that she particularity fussy, I just seem to fall into the same rut of flowers and bath smellies. Knowing my mum she would never complain. She loves a bubble bath as much as the next person but after twenty plus years of receiving the same birthday present, this year I want to mix things up.
If you’re a frequent visitor then you’ll already know how much I LOVE wine. However if you’re new here then let me tell you, I bloody LOVE wine! While my fondness of wine is clearly quite evident, it isn’t something which I often give as a gift. Simply because if I buy it, I drink it! Wine doesn’t remain unopened in our house for very long, gift or no gift!
So when the lovely people at Bottle Bazaar got in touch to see if I’d like to review one of their personalised bottles of wine, I was a little hesitant. Straight away I knew it would make the perfect gift for my mum. My concerns were solely around my own will power! But knowing it was an opportunity too good to miss, I was quick to push my worries aside. It’s not everyday someone offers to send you wine, when they do you grab it with both hands – literally – and run for the hills!
It took me a while to make my selection. The award winning wines are carefully hand picked but there’s a fantastic range of choice. From blushing Rose to crisp White, they’ve got something to excite all palates. Had I been choosing for myself then I would have definitely gone with something bubbly or maybe even the Asti. However with my mums taste in mind I went with a fruity white.
Once I’d found the perfect wine it was onto the fun part. Personalising the label! On their website, Bottle Bazaar have an impressive selection of customisable labels perfect for all occasions. Whether you looking for a gift for dad this father’s day, a way to celebrate your friend’s wedding or spreading some festive cheer, they have you covered! I especially like the labels which are perfect for asking your potential bridesmaid to be part of your special day. I opted for a pretty pink label with a short but sweet message. I’ve never been one for mush – even on birthdays!
Usually the only thing dropping through my letterbox is an electric bill or a menu from the local kebab house. I’ve never received wine in the post. So as you can imagine my excitement when I arrived home to find the wine waiting for me. Now I know it shouldn’t have been that exciting – is it really that thrilling to receive wine you can’t drink? – but I just couldn’t wait to see how my personalised label turned out. I’m sure you’ll agree the label I chose couldn’t be more fitting!
It isn’t my mum’s birthday until Tuesday so we’re yet to actually sample the goods. I say we’re as I’ve been ever so kind as to invite her over for dinner. I’ll be honest, I’m really hoping that once she unwraps her gift she won’t be able to resist popping the cork and then I can get in on the action too! I know it’s rude to give someone a gift just for your own benefit but where wines concerned I’ll take my chances!
*I was sent the wine in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
