10 Things That Make Me Happy

10 Things That Make Me Happy - Wine, Cheese and Penguins and all the other things which make me smile!

Last week Kirsty from Winnettes was kind enough to tag me in her 10 Things That Make Me Happy post. Have a nosy at her post and if you get chance leave her a comment. I’m sure she’d love to know what you think. I’m all about tag’s at the minute, especially ones like this one. It’s great to spread some positive vibes and take a look at the little things in our lives which make us smile. Plus it’s a brilliant  opportunity to get to know your fellow bloggers. After all were pretty much like virtual neighbors!

So here are my 10 things which make me happy.

OK it’s probably the most obvious one to start with but it’s true. After a long day at work or a stressful afternoon at the play centre, nothing makes me more happy than to stick Corrie on and relax with a cold glass of white. In fact the only thing that could make that situation any more pleasing was if Ryan Gosling was to bring me the wine, topless *obviously I mean naked*  and tell me that I had won last Friday’s Euromillions that I didn’t buy a ticket for!

Ryan – my other half not Gosling –  thinks I’m revolting but I’d much rather munch my way through a slab of brie or a great big chunk of goats cheese than your standard sweet treat. Give me a cheeseboard over chocolate any day of the week!

If you could go on an all expenses paid trip anywhere in the world, most people would choose somewhere warm and exotic. My idea of a once in a lifetime holiday would be to the south pole to see the penguins. I’m not entirely sure why I like penguins so much but there’s just something about them which makes me smile.

I love having a fresh bunch of flowers in the house. It’s like a natural air freshener that brings a touch of sunshine indoors, even on the most miserable of days. It’s just a shame that the majority of the time I have to buy them for myself! *I bet Ryan Gosling would buy me flowers.

I may be a lover of flowers I’m not so fond of the sun. I inherited my Dad’s ginger skin so anything above 22 degrees is just a recipe for disaster! *Hence my holiday with the penguins. I’m much more at home during the winter months. Hot chocolates and open fires suit me much better the bank holiday weekends in the beer garden!

While we’re on the subject of winter, I’m at my happiest around Christmas. Don’t get me wrong I’m not one of those crazy folk who whip the tree out in October but as of the 1st of December it’s official Santa season. Christmas is also a pretty good excuse for drinking wine which if you refer back to my first point you’ll remember this also makes me extremely happy 🙂

After Rory’s arrival, Ryan and I made an effort to plan at least one date night each month. I’ll be honest since my return to work this has slipped a little. Between trying to save money and my new found separation anxiety, we haven’t made much time for each other recently. I miss our one on one time and I hope it’s something we can work back into our new routine.

I might have had the day from hell but coming home to one of Rory’s big, wet, open mouth kisses makes me smile from ear to ear! There’s just nothing quite like receiving a sloppy kiss from your snotty toddler, even if sometimes you do have to bribe them with custard creams.

I’m pretty sure there’s absolutely no need for me to explain to you why sleep makes me happy. I challenge you to find me an adult who dislikes sleep!

One benefit of returning to work is how much you begin to value your weekend again. It’s no longer just the time when the cavalry arrives, it’s the time you get away from work to spend with your family. The type of weekend that makes me the happiest is when we don’t have plans. When we can lounge around and wing it but just revel in each others company.

In the words of one particularly famous bunny, that’s all folks! I hope you enjoyed reading my answers and now I’ll hand things over to these wonderful bloggers.

#2 is my weakness. I love cheese. I love it more than Hubster I think but I try not to dwell on that since one has emotions and will cry if compared to the other. #BloggerClubUK

Cheese, but not Brie, Cheddar. I really miss it living abroad and before we moved was not fussed about it! Typical.

Yep, cheese over chocolate club here too! #ablogginggoodtime

I’m absolutely with you on fresh flowers – every time I see them in the house it makes me smile. Definitely a luxury, but a simple pleasure that is well worth it. I can’t get on board with Winter though – Christmas is the only good thing about it in my view! Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

Making lists makes me happy. 🙂
Also, wine! I’ve recently started working with a wine club that allows me to get free wine delivered to my door every month. Best. Decision. Ever.

I really, really liked this. I loved Penguins the best! Who would’ve thunk it! Hahaha. What a lovely post. I am not tagged of course, but what a great idea for a post. It made me instantly happy just reading the headline. Stay happy, my friend. #SharingtheBlogLove

I love penguins too, there is just something so cute about them and how they waddle around. The winter isn’t for me, I’m too much of a summer girl. But I LOVE Christmas and really go to town over it. Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

This post is fab – it’s put a nice big smile on my face! Baby kisses are definitely the best, and Christmas! I do like penguins but my favourite animals are Pandas – perhaps we could bond over our love of monochrome creatures?! Hahaha #sharingthebloglove

I could have written this … Pretty much all your favourite things are my favourite things! Just what I needed right now. It’s been a hard week and I’m so happy at the thought of cheese!

Oh yes to all of these! What a fab happy list, I love it! #SharingtheBlogLove

There are some lovely things listed here. I too love penguins and they are perhaps the only animal to appear as goodies and baddies in films right? Not so sure about going to see them in their natural habitat – far too cold for me. #SharingtheBlogLove
